About Us

Mediterranean Fair of Healthy Food and Medicinal Herbs first started with work in 2004. The fair was organized by Dubrovnik Sun d.o.o. in cooperation with Dubrovnik Healthy City Organization, Croatian Chamber of Economy – Dubrovnik County Chamber, Trades and Crafts Chamber of Dubrovnik–Neretva County, Dubrovnik Entrepreneurship Center, Dubrovnik –Neretva County, City of Dubrovnik, Regional Development Agency Dunea d.o.o., Humanitarian peacekeeping organization Deša -Dubrovnik and organization Healthy Life from Rijeka.
This specialized manifestation was profiled as a highly significant fair show in Croatia and Dubrovnik–Neretva County in the field of organic agriculture and other ecological entrepreneurship. This was confirmed by the fact that, in 2005, the idea to declare Dubrovnik–Neretva County a GMO-free area was initiated and implemented at our fair.
The 6th Mediterranean Fair, held in 2009, counted over 220 exhibitors from all over Croatia and neighboring Mediterranean countries, and over 30 000 visitors.
This was recognized by several Croatian ministries (Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Ministry of Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Tourism) that participate at our exhibitions as sponsors or attendees.

Our project obviously became traditional and recognizable. Orientation of the fair is aimed at expanding with new products (hybrid and electric vehicles, environmentally friendly furniture and clothes made from organic materials), increasing the quality of exhibitors' presentations, and increasing the quality of ecologically and traditionally grown products. Therefore, we are interested and we put great efforts in all activities aimed to promote sustainable development and healthy way of living by using ecologically acceptable products, and in affirmation of Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik–Neretva County in that direction.

Our MISSION is:
Economic development of Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik –Neretva County and Croatia:
1. Quality programs
2. Raising consciousness of the importance of eco-entrepreneurship, raising awareness of healthy diet, ecological standards, sustainable development, and balance between the nature, economy and people.
3. Development of economies through knowledge centers, streaming towards balanced development of the entire economy.

Creating favorable entrepreneurial environment and encouraging development of rural areas:
1. Education through lectures, workshops, round tables, scientific congress meetings
2. Educating and developing a network of trainers/ teachers of entrepreneurs, consultants for Small Business
3. Users of our services are the existing and newly established small and medium-sized economic entities, companies, artisans, cooperatives and family farms.


Our VISION is:
Dubrovnik-Neretva County as a GMO free area – realized in 2005.
Including Dubrovnik-Neretva County and other counties in the network of European GMO-free regions.
We see Dubrovnik as the main eco–tourism destination and promoter of eco-tourism economy in the Mediterranean.

To be the leading fair in the Mediterranean with programmes that promote development of traditional, eco–entrepreneurship and rural development - all in function of protecting Croatian and Mediterranean eco-system – and to be a strong support to entrepreneurs in creating their business' success in this direction.


Key words; health, employment, demographic reconstruction of rural areas, green technology, ecological zones, potable water, traditionally and organically produced food, free enterprise based on sustainable development, cooperatives, co-operation, clusters and branding of Croatian export products.
